Kate's parents gifted her an acoustic guitar for her twelfth birthday and she has been writing songs on it ever since.
Growing up performing in musical theatre, and playing trumpet and french horn in her school's symphonic band, she found a love for singing in harmony when she joined her high school's 48-person Madrigal Choir. The choir toured Hawaii, Ireland, and the Yucatan Peninsula, performed in over 40 local holiday concerts between Thanksgiving and Christmas each year, competed in music festivals all over the globe, and recorded three live, full-length albums at George Lucas' infamous Skywalker Ranch.
When she moved to Los Angeles at the age of seventeen to pursue her acting career, Kate found comfort in writing songs on her guitar. In her first years out of college, Kate busked on the streets of Los Angeles at the Santa Monica Promenade, and at farmer's markets throughout the city, she also performed in local venues such as The Mint, So Far Sounds HQ, and Hotel Cafe.
She recorded her first EP under her maiden name, Kaitlin Huwe, in 2012 in her friends closet in Topanga Canyon, which opened up to a decade of collaborating with local musicians and producers.
Kate sings an acoustic version of "Year of the Tiger" by St. Vincent in her breakout role in the film "The Nowhere Inn" an Official Selection at Sundance, SXSW, and Tribeca Film Festival.
She is currently writing and recording for her new solo project, and is a collaborator on several other projects listed below.
